Waynesboro stormed back with three runs in the ninth and then four in the 10th to post an improbable 7-3 extra-inning win at Harrisonburg Tuesday night.

The wild ninth began with the Generals down 3-0. Turks reliever Stephen Styck issued a leadoff walk to Waynesboro first baseman Drew Turocy. Pinch-hitter Chris Colquhoun then followed with a single to right, and another walk to rightfielder Kenny Fleming loaded the bases with nobody out. Styck next walked catcher Matt Malloy and pinch-hitter Jared King to force in two runs.

Styck was lifted at this point for JMU product James Weiner, who promptly gave up an RBI sacrifice fly to leftfielder Cody Hudson that tied the game at 3-3.

A two-our Zephan Guyear single loaded the bases again, but Grant Fillipitch struck out looking to end the threat.

Turocy got the 10th going with a leadoff single and came around to score on a Fleming one-out single that was followed by another wild half=inning with Harrisonburg committing two errors and uncorking two wild pitches.

The seven-run rally made a winner of Andrew Blackwell, who put up scoreless innings in the ninth and 10th to get his first victory of the season.

Starting pitcher Taylor Sandefur put in a solid effort for the Generals, who improved to 2-1 on the season, giving up three runs (two earned) and five hits in seven innings of work.

A great game from the Generals, 2 of the 3 runs from the Turks was from a wild inside the park double error home run but the Generals did strand alot on base before the 9th.

They did stay very patient in the 9th and 10th and won for the first time since 2007 in Harrisonburg in the old Veterans Stadium, the year we won the VLB Championship. Must say call the Generals the comeback kids in 2010.

Also I need to mention there was over 6 UVA baseball players there at the game in support of our UVA players on team and rooting for the Generals. I know Hultzen, Arico, Kline and 2 others I can’t recall at this time in support. So when u have UVA on your side Generals, you gotta win and they did.

Now one streak is over in Harrisonburg, now its time to be our rival the Staunton Braves, Lets go 3-1!!

    GO GENERALS!!
