Generals make it four of five with win at Harrisonburg
Waynesboro right-hander Devin Smith (Concord) stymied Harrisonburg for seven innings, limiting the Turks to one run on four hits, while fanning eight and walking none in a 7-2 road win for the Generals.
The Generals banged out 14 hits in support of Smith’s efforts, including six for extra bases. Julian Ridings (Western Carolina) 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Austin Johnston (Central Florida) 3-for-4 with a double.
Smith improves to 2-0 on the 2012 season with the win. Waynesboro has won four of five to improve to 5-3.
The Turks’ win streak was snapped at five games, dropping them to 7-2 overall.
Waynesboro returns home Monday night for a game against Augusta County rival Staunton. First pitch is at 7 p.m.
