Surging Generals now hold Valley’s second-best record
Waynesboro (15-10) has now won nine of its last 11 games to take a one and a half game lead over second-place Staunton (14-12) in the Southern Division.

Halley shines in first start with Generals
Two nights ago, Shane Halley was manning center field in the late innings of one of the more memorable College World Series games ever played. Sunday night, Halley, a University of Virginia junior, was in center at Kate Collins Field, and picking up the game-winning RBI for the Waynesboro Generals.
“The College World Series was a blast. We had a great time. We were welcomed with wide arms there. It didn’t end the way we wanted it to,” said Halley, an outfielder and pitcher for the top-ranked Cavs, who were knocked out of the College World Series by South Carolina in a 3-2, 13-inning final on Friday night. Generals Notebook
Heating Up: Three Generals regulars are hitting .300 or better, and the team batting average is up to .253, still 10th in the 12-team Valley League, but Waynesboro was last in the league a week ago.
MJ Sartin is leading the team with a .345 average, good for 13th in the league among hitters who would quality for the batting title.
Jordan Walton is second on the team and 14th in the league with a .344 average. Chase Worthington is hitting .317 for the season.
Catcher Jeb Weymouth is hitting .348 in 23 at-bats after having the start to his Valley League season delayed due to a hand injury. (more…)
