Express Break Eighth Inning Tie, Win 7-6

In an error ridden matchup, the Strasburg Express were able to capitalize on eighth inning walks to beat the Generals 7-6.

Though taking the loss, the clear takeaway Thursday evening for the Generals would be the continuation of power in the lineup. On back to back nights the Generals saw multiple players hit homeruns with Parker Phillips and Jason Bush both going deep Thursday evening.

Phillips and Bush would be the lone contributors with RBIs as the remaining runs would come in unearned.

Grant Suponchick would earn a no decision for the Generals pitching 4 1/3 allowing five runs (two earned) on nine hits. Tyler Thompson would take his first loss of the year as he would get tabbed with the earned run on the go ahead single in the eighth.

After a shaky inning that began with two walks and the lead runner advancing on a fielder’s choice, Tyler Martin of the Express would single off of Daniel Tolano scoring Brandon Quaranta for the go ahead run. This would be all the Express would need to dispatch the Generals for the remainder of the contest.

Hunter Wolfe would earn his first win of the year for the Express. He pitched two innings and did not allow a hit. Lawson Humphries would notch his first save for the Express coming on in the ninth to finish off the Generals.

Jake Perry was 3-for-4 at the plate for the Express with a run scored and two RBIs. His first homerun of the season would be amongst those hits. Tyler Martin would add a double in route to a 3-for-5 night with three RBIs.

Three hole hitter and left fielder Brandon Quaranta would score four runs and add an RBI.

The win moves the Express to .500 on the season as they are now tied for third in the North. The Generals fall to 13-8 and lose a game on the Charlottesville Tom Sox. They are now two and a half games out of first for the South division.

The Generals will take Friday to recover and then head to Front Royal Saturday evening to take on the Cardinals.
