Front Royal Downs Generals 10-6

In a back and forth affair Wednesday evening at Kate Collins field, the Generals were unable to keep up with the Front Royal Cardinals as they fall by a score of 10-6.

A battling Front Royal team would see RBIs produced from five different players as they would put up eighteen hits on the night. Performance front runner for the Cardinals would easily be Valley League standout Dominic Canzone as he would run a 4-for-6 night at the plate, score three runs and knock in one RBI. He would also steal his seventeenth base of the year.

Canzone is now batting a dominating .418 on the 2017 season. Dylan Hardy would go 4-for-5 with a run scored, Kenny Bergmann 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored and Jaden Hassell would finish 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.

Cardinals starter Robbie Price would go five complete with a no decision. He would be hit for four earned runs on seven hits. Trevor Harris would earn his third win pitching 2 2/3 of scoreless relief. He allowed one hit and would strike out four Generals.

Generals’ starter Blake Goldsberry would earn the no decision on six complete innings. He allowed six runs (five earned). John Hisel would take his first loss as he was bumped for two earned runs in 2/3 of an inning.

Parker Phillips and Reid Long would each have two hits for the Generals. Phillips would contribute two RBIs and score a run.

The Generals now fall to 17-13 on the year and are 5.5 games behind the Tom Sox for the lead in the South. The Cardinals improve to 15-14 and are four games out of first.

The Generals will be back at home Thursday evening against the Strasburg Express. Come on out as there will be free admission for EVERYONE courtesy of F&M Bank.
