Generals Fall to Royals 9-5

Back home at Kate Collins Field Thursday evening, the Generals were unable to keep pace with the Winchester Royals as they fall by a score of 9-5.

Though they are a sub five hundred team, the Winchester Royals brought the bats to Waynesboro as they would tally fourteen hits with four players contributing RBIs.

The Royals would knock the Generals around for three runs in the third inning as they would manage to put together a two out rally. Seth Wall and Dillon Reed would both double in the inning with Seth Woodward and Kyle Vesnesky adding singles.

Winchester would again pour it on in the seventh as they would add four more runs to the board. Kyle Vesnesky, Alejandro Rivero, Nick Goode and Seth Woodward would all contribute RBIs for the Royals. Their starter Kyle Pierce would earn his second win of the season.

On a combination of hits and errors the Generals would manage four runs in the bottom half of the seventh though they would ultimately fall short in the attempted comeback. Parker Phillips, McClain Bradley and Luke Robinson all had RBIs for the Generals. Starting pitcher Grant Suponchick would give a strong six innings but would earn his second loss of the year.

He allowed three earned runs on seven hits while striking out four.

The Royals are now 11-15 in the North as the Generals fall to 16-10 in the South. They are now three games behind the Charlottesville Tom Sox for the South division lead.

The Generals will be on the road Friday evening as they will travel to Staunton to take on the Braves.
