Generals fall to TomSox 8-2

At C-Ville Weekly Ballpark on Saturday evening, the Generals were unable to keep pace with the Charlottesville TomSox as they fall by a score of 8-2

Zach Evers put the first run on the board for the Generals in the top of the first from a pass ball but the Generals bats were silenced with no runs and only two additional hits going into the top of the fifth. Generals would get their second and go ahead run from James Cosentino with McClain Bradley providing the RBI.

Michael DeRenzi put the first and tying run on the board for the TomSox in the bottom of the third from a double by Michael Wielansky. The TomSox would add on five more runs in the bottom of the fourth, all being unearned due to three errors by the Generals. The fifth and sixth innings would bring on one run a piece from the ToxSox. Bryce Windham lead the evening in RBIs for the TomSox with 3 as Michael Wielansky picked up 2 leaving both Brandon Johnson and Michael DeRenzi with 1 a piece.

Winning pitcher for the evening was Justin Sorokowski and losing pitcher was Tyler Thompson – With the TomSox win that leaves them in first place of the South Division with the Generals at 3.5 games back.

No games are scheduled this evening as the 2017 Valley League All-Star Game will be held at James Madison University’s Veterans Memorial Park. Batting practice and autograph/photo sessions for young fans will take place from 3:10-4:45 p.m. The 60 yard dash contest will be held at 4:50 p.m. and the Home Run Derby is at 5:20 p.m. Player introductions will be at 7:15 p.m. with first pitch set for 7:30 p.m.

Generals upcoming games for the remainder of Week 6 include a home game on Monday evening against New Market Rebels, away game on Tuesday against Winchester Royals, back home on Wednesday against Front Royal Cardinals and another home game on Thursday against Strasburg Express.
