Generals partner with community groups
Wednesday night’s Waynesboro Generals game was sponsored by West Waynesboro Church of Christ, a local church whose mission at the ballpark was to raise awareness of their presence and refresh Generals fans with cold drinks and Koolpops. It was the church’s third time sponsoring the Generals, said senior pastor Jonathan Feathers.
It was easy to tell that Feathers was genuinely happy to be at Wednesday’s game, and he was keen to emphasize the importance of helping the community to the church.
“Tonight’s all about just letting people know we’re here,” Feathers said.
There are many opportunities for local businesses and groups to support the Generals and get noticed like the West Waynesboro Church of Christ. Contacting Crystal Graham or Teresa Gauldin could get your business’s name on the Generals roster as a sponsor.
This year’s team, like the West Waynesboro Church of Christ, has gotten involved in the local community, and it’s made quite the difference both on and off the field. Generals ballplayers have been actively involved this season with local groups such as the Boys and Girls Club, the Waynesboro YMCA, Camp Summer Fun, and local elementary schools.
Wednesday night, Generals volunteers Mary McDermott, Beth Tipton and Diane Lundstrom delivered a plethora of options for fans and anyone in he community to help the team. Many ways of donating aid only require time and include the donation of food, the hiring of players, donations, volunteering at the park, and of course sponsoring the team, an inning, or a game.
