Generals Recover with Road Win Defeating Winchester 5-3

The Generals hit the road Thursday evening bouncing back from Wednesday’s shutout with a 5-3 victory over the Winchester Royals.

Starting pitcher Payton Kinney would lead the way for the Generals as he would go seven complete allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits. He struck out six and would not allow a walk. Kinney would take the win as he is now 3-0 on the year sitting at a 2.41 ERA through 22 1/3 innings pitched.

The Generals would see RBIs from Ryan Rosa and Jason Bush with Rosa adding his eighth stolen base of the season. Parker Phillips and Andrew Robinson would also add stolen bases.

Tim Holloway would earn his third save of the year for the Generals as he would come on to close out the ninth. He allowed one hit and struck out two.

Dillon Reed and Alejandro Rivero would contribute RBIs for the Royals in the losing effort. Richard Cruz would take the loss for the Royals going 2 2/3 innings of relief allowing two earned runs on three hits. It would be his second loss of the year.

The Royals now fall to 7-10 on the year leaving them in last place in the North division. The Generals improve to 10-6, gaining a game on the Charlottesville Tom Sox. They are now only a half a game out of the division lead for the South.

The Generals will be back at home Friday evening as they look to take on the Covington Lumberjacks.
