Turks Top Generals in 4-1 Loss

The Generals hit the road Sunday evening for their first away game of the year falling to the Harrisonburg Turks 4-1.

After jumping out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a bases loaded walk, Waynesboro hitters were unable to plate anyone for the remaining eight innings, stranding nine on the bases.

The Turks were strong on the hill as starter Mason Studstill went six innings allowing just one earned run on three hits with 5 strikeouts.

The Turks were backed offensively with two RBIs a piece from third baseman Chase Smartt and designated hitter Andrew Llewellyn.

Harrisonburg’s bullpen went on to continue the shutdown theme with three innings of scoreless relief allowing just two hits. Davis Kirkpatrick earned the save for the Turks.

Andrew Robinson and McClain Bradley both doubled for the Generals with Robinson scoring the lone run. Generals’ starter Garrett Bye was hit with the loss. He went four innings allowing four runs on four hits. He struck out five.

The Generals continue on the road Monday evening as they look to take on the Purcellville Cannons.
