Generals Announce 2023 Schedule

WAYNESBORO, Va. – The Waynesboro Generals have officially released the schedule for the upcoming summer season.

This summer will dawn a new era in the Valley League as there will be no divisions for the first time in recent history. The schedule will not feature scheduled doubleheaders for the first time since 2019 and will see all 12 teams square off against each other four times for a total of 44 games.

The league also welcomes its newest member, the Culpeper Cavaliers, for the club’s inaugural season.

Waynesboro opens the season on June 1 with a trip across the mountain to battle Charlottesville in a rematch of last season’s South Division Championship Series. The Gens open the home slate the very next night as the cross-county rival Staunton Braves come to Kate Collins.

The slate is highlighted by a three-game homestand in mid-June as Harrisonburg, Charlottesville and Woodstock all come to town on June 13, 14 and 15 respectively. Head Coach Matty Holem’s club will battle Culpeper for the first time in team history on June 10 and will host the Cavaliers on June 28.

All home games are slated to start at 7:00 p.m. at Kate Collins Middle School

The Generals will play their final home regular season contest on July 21 against those same Cavaliers before heading to Winchester and Strasburg to round out the regular season.
