Pair of Virginians Headed to Waynesboro

WAYNESBORO, Va. – Matthew Sheppard and Landon Abrahamson will join the Generals for the 2023 season.

Sheppard joins the Generals by way of Ferrum College out of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The Virginia Beach, Va. native just wrapped up his third season with the Panthers where he made 14 appearances out of the bullpen and picked up three saves. Sheppard’s 3.86 ERA was among the leaders in the ODAC. Sheppard’s season was highlighted by his final performance of the season where he tossed 3.0 scoreless innings against No. 2 Shenandoah.

Abrahamson wrapped up his first season at Patrick Henry Community College after transferring from the University of Dayton. The Miller School product saw action both on the mound and in the field for the Patriots this season. Abrahamson swung for a .294 average in 30 games to go along with a trio of home runs. On the mound, Abrahamson made 5 appearances including a single start. He picked up a win on April 12 after 2.0 innings of work.

The Generals season begins on June 1 as the squad heads to Charlottesville to battle the TomSox at 7 p.m.
