Generals Drop a Close One to Tom Sox on Ninth Inning Passed Ball

The Generals took their first loss on the year falling 3-2 to the Charlottesville Tom Sox on a ninth inning passed ball.

The Tom Sox jumped out to an early lead in the first inning as they saw Michael Wielansky and Vinnie Pasquantino notch early RBIs to get the game started.

The Generals then answered back with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the third inning as third baseman Parker Phillips drove in two RBIs on a single to left field. Phillips was 2-for-3 with a walk.

After five innings of scoreless baseball the Tom Sox cooked up a ninth inning rally with third baseman Justin Cook earning a two out walk. Designated hitter Ari Sechopoulos immediately followed with a single to right field advancing Cook to third.

Generals pitcher Patrick OShea then walked Tom Sox shortstop Bryce Windham putting the Generals in a bases loaded jam.

The passed ball was ultimately the Generals undoing as Cook came across as the go ahead run giving the Tom Sox a 3-2 lead from which the Generals would never recover.

Oshea took the loss for the Generals with Joe Burris of the Tom Sox earning the win.

The Generals will travel to Harrisonburg on Sunday to take on the Turks.
