Generals lose in extras at Front Royal

An 11th-inning Will Walsh RBI single gave Front Royal a 3-2 win over Waynesboro Tuesday night.
Taylor Sandefur was masterful on the mound for the Generals, who fall to 4-4 on the 2010 season, pitching seven scoreless innings, giving up six hits and striking out seven and walking one as he left the game with a scant 1-0 lead.
Wade Bilbrey gave up two runs on two hits in the eighth that gave the Cardinals a 2-1 lead.
Waynesboro rallied for a run in the ninth on an RBI double by Colin Harrington that scored pinch-runner Terrell Thompson from second.
Walsh’s game-winning hit came off reliever Andrew Blackwell (1-1).
Chris Pena (1-0) got the win in relief for Front Royal with scoreless innings in the 10th and 11th.
Cards starter Dan Smith went five and two-thirds innings giving up a run on six hits with five strikeouts and a walk.
Andrew Turocy was 3-for-5 for Waynesboro with a go-ahead RBI single in the sixth.
