Mike Hernandez pitched seven strong innings, and the offense put up 17 hits and scored in five consecutive innings, as Waynesboro posted an 11-3 win over New Market Friday night at Mathers Park at Kate Collins Field.

Hernandez (2-1) improved to 2-0 against the Rebels in 2010. He pitched eight innings of one-hit baseball against New Market in the Generals’ season opener on June 5. Win #2 over New Market was impressive in a different way, with Hernandez scattering nine hits while giving up three runs (two earned) and striking out nine.

Greg Smith struck out four in two hitless innings to close things out for Waynesboro.

Zephan Guyear and Drew Turocy each had three hits to pace the Generals offense.
