Ridings, Curtis earn weekly honors

Centerfielder Julian Ridings (sophomore, Western Carolina) is the Waynesboro Generals Player of the Week, and lefthander Adam Curtis (junior, Western Carolina) is the Waynesboro Generals Pitcher of the Week.

Ridings had eight hits in 18 at-bats last week for a .444 average with one home run, six RBI and seven runs scored. For the season, Ridings is hitting a Valley League-best .451 with four homers and 25 RBI.

His 51 hits, 78 total bases and five sacrifice bunts lead the VBL.

His .690 slugging percentage and 31 runs scored are second in the league, and his .479 on-base percentage, 12 stolen bases and 11 doubles are third in the league.

Curtis was honored for his effort in the Generals’ 11-1 victory over Strasburg on July 6. Curtis pitched six scoreless innings in the win, giving up five hits and one walk while striking out a season-high eight batters.

For the season, Curtis has a 3-1 record and 3.26 ERA.
