Win at Woodstock makes it three in a row for Generals

Campbell Henkel pitched seven strong innings, and Scott Wilcox and Devin Smith each knocked in a pair of runs to lift Waynesboro to its third win in a row, 7-2 over Woodstock, Saturday night.

Henkel (1-1) gave up a run on three hits while striking out four in seven innings of work. The outing was the third superb performance by a Waynesboro starter in as many nights. Generals starters have given up two runs on eight hits in 21 innings pitched in the current three-game winning streak.

MJ Sartin was 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Wilcox had two hits for Waynesboro.

Brian Valente (1-1) took the loss, giving up two runs on three hits in four innings.

    Great job by the Generals tonight and superb pitching. Lets go for four in a row Sunday. Also it was a great day for former Generals too when UVA’s Jared King hit a 3-run HR against UC-Irvine in Game 1 of the Super Regionals.
