Palensky, Lucio win weekly honors

Caleb Palensky (sophomore, Nebraska-Omaha) is the Waynesboro Generals Player of the Week, and Seth Lucio (freshman, Tennessee Tech) is a repeat honoree as Waynesboro Generals Pitcher of the Week.

Palensky hit .400 this week (10-for-25) to raise his average for the 2012 season to .360. Palensky is second on the team with a .443 on-base percentage and tied for fourth with eight runs batted in.

Palensky is also second in the Valley League with 48 assists.

Lucio improved to 2-0 in the Generals’ 8-1 win at Covington Friday night. The righthander gave up a run in seven innings pitched against the Lumberjacks, and for the season has given up just that one earned run in 18 innings pitched.

Lucio’s 0.50 ERA and 25 strikeouts are good for second in the league. His .177 opponents’ batting average is fifth-best in the league.
