Walton signs with St. Louis
Former Waynesboro Generals first baseman Jordan Walton signed a minor-league contract with the world champion St. Louis Cardinals and will report to the Single-A Batavia (N.Y.) Muckdogs in the New York-Penn League.
Walton was fourth in the Valley League in 2011 with a .364 batting average and was a second-team All-Valley selection. Read more
Walton named Southern Division Player of the Week
Waynesboro Generals first baseman Jordan Walton has been named the Southern Division Player of the Week.
Walton hit .364 with eight RBIs last week and had four hits and four RBIs in Waynesboro’s 9-5 win over Staunton on Sunday night. The win over Staunton clinched a 2011 playoff berth for the Generals.
For the season, Walton is fourth in the Valley League with a .375 batting average with a homer and 28 RBI.
Sartin named South MVP in All-Star Game
MJ Sartin homered, doubled and scored two runs and was named the MVP for the South team in the 2011 Valley League All-Star Game, which was won by the North All-Stars, 6-4.
Sartin, a junior from Nebraska-Omaha, was 3-for-4 on the night for the South, with a single in the fifth, a homer in the seventh and a double to lead off the night. Read more

First baseman Jordan Walton and closer Andrew Reck will represent the Waynesboro Generals in the Mid-Atlantic Classic.
The Classic pits all-stars from the Valley League against all-stars from the Cal Ripken League in Maryland. Read more
