Terrance Dedrick, Tyler Fox named Waynesboro Generals Players of the Week

wlogo2Terrance Dedrick (junior, Auburn) and Tyler Fox (freshman, Nebraska-Omaha) have been named the Waynesboro Generals Players of the Week for Week 2 of the 2013 Valley League season.

Dedrick hit .350 for the week with a .409 on base percentage and .450 slugging percentage. His .350 batting average on the season is tied for the team lead with Corbin Lucas (sophomore, Shenandoah).

Fox was the winning pitcher in Friday’s 4-0 win at Covington. The righthander gave up one hit and struck out seven in six innings of work against the Lumberjacks en route to picking up his first win of the 2013 season.

On the season, Fox is 1-1 with a 3.68 ERA in three starts with 18 strikeouts and one base on balls in 14 and two-thirds innings pitched.


Alex Mortensen named to Academic Team

Alex Mortensen-B76I5310Alex Mortensen of University of Nebraska- Omaha will be playing for the Generals this summer. On May 2nd, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced that Alex has been selected for the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District Baseball Team for District 7. These teams recognize the nation’s top student‐athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Alex is Omaha’s fourth academic all-district selection in baseball program history and the first to garner such recognition as a Division I student-athlete. Congratulations, Alex!


Josh Bullock has season-ending surgery

26joshbullockLast summer, Josh Bullock of the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks was named a Waynesboro General Top Performer. Josh led the 2012 VBL with 10 saves and was scheduled to return this summer as a Waynesboro General.

Although an arm injury changed those plans, the Generals are very happy to report that Josh is rehabbing after successful surgery. He’ll be back pitching for the Mavericks next season and he hopes to visit in Waynesboro this summer.

Walton, Reck named to Mid-Alantic Classic team

First baseman Jordan Walton and closer Andrew Reck will represent the Waynesboro Generals in the Mid-Atlantic Classic.
