Gens Score 16 to Beat New Market to Stay Hot
New Market fans had to be feeling a bit of deja vu when the Gens put up a 7 spot in the first inning. The last time the two teams matched up, Waynesboro won by busting out 18 runs on 20 hits. Tonight, the Generals would put up 16 in the winning effort.
The night started with a bang for Waynesboro. After starter Tyler Thompson (Austin Peay) worked out of a bases loaded jam in the first, the offense came alive. Tyler Bielamowicz (Houston) started things off with a single. Chase Cheek (Duke) would then send a swinging bunt up the third base line. The third baseman would field it and throw it away to allow Bielo to come all the way around to score and Cheek to make it to third. A hit-by-pitch and a walk loaded the bases for Alex Webb (Chipola). Webb shot a single up the middle for an RBI and the second run of the inning. Jackson Webb (UCF) worked a bases loaded RBI walk for the third run. Bryce Teodosio would then hit a high fly ball down the right field line into foul territory for a sacrifice fly that all runners advanced on. The next batter would strike out for out number two and New Market looked as if they could get out of the inning by only giving up 4 runs. However, Joe Bellini (Cincinatti) drilled a triple into the right center field gap for 2 RBIs. He would also end up scoring 2 pitches later on a wild pitch. The score would stand at 7-0 after 1 complete inning.
New Market would respond quickly with 2 runs in the top of the second inning. After a lead-off single, a fielder’s choice, and 2 stolen bases, there was a runner at 3rd base with only one out in the inning. The Rebels would shoot a single through the left side to score their first run. Two batters later, Andrew Eyster would drill a double down the right field line to drive in the other run of the inning. The score after 2 complete was now 7-2.
The Generals would bust things back open in the bottom of the 4th with 3 more runs. Alex Brait (Florida Gulf Coast) would start things off with a 1-out single to right and would advance to second later on a wild pitch. However after a strikeout, there were 2 away in the inning with Brait standing on second base. Alex Webb would walk and Brait would steal third to put runners at first and third for Bryce Teodosio. Teodosio was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Bruno Teramoto (New Mexico St) would get hit by a pitch for an RBI, and finally, Joe Bellini would be the third consecutive batter to be hit by a pitch and would bring in another run. The score moved to 10-2 after 4 innings.
In the top of the 5th, the Rebels would tack on a run to make the score 10-3. It started with a lead off single by Oraj Anu. That was one of 4 hits by Anu on the night. He was moved to second base on a tapper back to the mound. He eventually scored on a single to right field with two outs in the inning. But there would be no further threat.
In the bottom part of the 5th, the Generals would put up another 4 runs. Alex Brait was the man to start things with one out in the inning again. He drew a walk. Andrew Orzel (Wofford) would move him to third base on a single to right. With runners on the corners and 1 out in the inning, Alex Webb would ground into an RBI fielder’s choice. Jackson Webb would once again draw a walk to get runners on first and second for Bryce Teodosio. On a 2-2 count, Teodosio unloaded on a ball that disappeared into the night sky. The 3 run shot would move the score to 13-3.
For good measure, Waynesboro would pile on their final 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning. Joe Bellini would work a leadoff walk and would score on a first pitch RBI triple by Tyler Bielamowicz. Chase Cheek would send a groundball to the right side for an RBI groundout. The score stood at 16-3. The Rebels would manage to score one in the top of the 8th by way of an RBI groundout to third base to move the score to where it would ultimately finish. Final Score: 16-4.

Pitcher’s Dual Finishes In 4th Straight Win For Waynesboro
In a game that only saw 5 hits between the two teams combined, timely hitting was the key factor in deciding a winner in the tightly contested ball game in Winchester Wednesday night.
Before General starter Nathan Schneider (St. Mary’s) settled into one of his best outings of the summer, they got to him for a run in the first. The first batter of Schneider’s night reached base via the walk. He later stole second before a bouncer up the middle scored him from second base. The Royals had jumped out to a 1-0 lead after 1 complete inning.
As mentioned, both pitchers would be stellar. The only time the Generals scored was in the 4th inning. The inning would start with an airmailed throw on a slow roller hit by Bryce Teodosio (Clemson). Andrew Orzel (Wofford) would then walk to put runners at 1st and second with one out in the inning. After a chopper to third base advanced both base runners safely, Dalton Wingo (UCF) would work a full count walk to load the bases with two outs in the inning for Bruno Teramoto (New Mexico St.). Bruno would rip a 1-1 pitch down the third base line that would rattle around in the left field corner. All 3 runners would come around to score and after the top of the 4th, the Generals would lead 3-1.
Nathan Schneider worked his way through the 5th with a 3 up, 3 down, showing. However, things got a bit messy in the bottom of the 6th inning. With the Royals only down 2, the go ahead run would be brought to the plate after Schneider hit the first batter and walked the second. He would manage to get a line drive out to left field for out number one. He would then get the next hitter to hit a line drive right at the third baseman. If caught, the Gens would’ve had a double play because the Royal runners had started to run to the next base and would have been doubled off for sure. However, when the ball was booted, the Gens had their hands full with the bases loaded and one out. But just like the night before at home vs. Harrisonburg, Head Coach John Jeanes turned to the bullpen, and his reliever worked an inning ending double play to avoid the danger. This time it was newcomer Austin Hohm (Georgia Southern).
Hohm would make pretty easy work of the Winchester Royals for the rest of the game. He would go on to pick up the 11 out save by finishing out the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th innings.

The Generals (17-13) have moved into 2nd place and are within a game of the South Division leading Covington Lumberjacks. Waynesboro will be back in action at home on Thursday night when they welcome the New Market Rebels into town for the first time all summer.
Generals Put Up 20 Runs In Win Over Woodstock
Monday night in Woodstock was the second time this summer that the Gens have put up 20 hits in a game. Both have come within a week of each other. To go along with those 20 hits, they also put up 20 runs.
The Generals started the second half of the year with a bang. They put up 5 runs in the top of the first inning. The first batter of the game was Tyler Bielmaowicz (Houston) and he drew a walk. After recording an out, Bryce Teodosio (Clemson) walked to put runners at first and second. Alex Webb (Chipola) would single to load the bases. Andrew Orzel (Wofford) would be hit by his league leading 14th pitch to bring in the first run. Jackson Webb (UCF) would single through the left side to bring in another run with only one out in the inning. His teammate at UCF, Dalton Wingo, would follow him up with an RBI bases loaded walk. Joe Bellini (Cincinnati) would ground into an RBI fielder’s choice, but when Woodstock tried turning two, the throw was wide of the first baseman to allow another run to score. That would make the score 5-0.
Woodstock showed some fight early by getting on the scoreboard early. It started with a lead-off single by Anthony Cuozzi. He would move to second on a wild pitch, to third on a groundout to the right side, and would score on a 2 out single by Alex Goebel. The score after 1 complete would be 5-1. After the first, the game started to get ugly little by little.
In the second inning, Tyler Bielamowicz led off the inning with his first home run of the summer to make the score 6-1. We move on to the third where the Generals would score again. Dalton Wingo would start things off with a double. Joe Bellini would follow him up with a single. With runners on first and third, Tyler Bielamowicz would bring in another run by way of groundout. A close play at the plate would go in favor of Waynesboro. In the 4th innning, the Generals would score once again. This inning started with another double. This time it was Bryce Teodosio. Teodosio would steal third for Andrew Orzel who would single to bring him in.
It was in the 5th that the Generals started to score more than just one in an inning. They put up 4 runs in the 5th and 4 more in the 6th. The 5th started out with a lead off walk by Bruno Teramoto (New Mexico St), a hit-by pitch for Tyler Bielamowicz, a strikeout, and a single by Teodosio to load the bases. After another strike out to make it two outs in the inning, Andrew Orzel drew a bases loaded walk for an RBI. Jackson Webb would try his hand at the bases loaded situation and would also work a walk. Tyler Trovinger (Oakland) would be subbed into the game and would promptly follow suit with another bases loaded walk. Joe Bellini would make it 4 straight with a walk to bring in the 4th and final run of the 5th inning.
In the 6th, the inning was started by Tyler Bielamowicz with more of the same… A walk. Dylan Cloonan (Miami) would then double to put runners at second and third. Teodosio would load the bases with a hit-by-pitch. Alex Webb would contribute a sacrifice fly for the first run in the inning. Orzel would re-load the bases with another walk. Jackson Webb would draw his second bases loaded walk in the last 2 innings. Joe Bellini would hit a 2-out 2 RBI single to right field to bring in the final run of the 6th inning. After 6 complete, the score would read 16-1 in favor of Waynesboro.
The top of the 7th was the only inning the Generals didn’t score in. No worries though, they scored 2 in the 8th and 2 in the 9th. Alex Webb started the 8th with a single. He was followed by a flyout, a walk to Jackson Webb, and a single by Tyler Trovinger to load the bases. Joe Bellini would drive in another run with a single to centerfield. Bruno Teramoto would get in on the fun and drive in a run with a single to left field. That would be the end of that threat. In the 9th, Coach Jeanes would turn to an almost complete pitcher’s lineup. Right Handed Pitcher Fred Villarreal (Houston) would start things out with an infield single. Villarreall would be brought in by a Nick Parr (Oakland), a Right Handed Pitcher. Parr ripped a double over the head of the right fielder to bring in Villarreal. Parr reportedly went to Oakland as a two-way player but the coaching staff elected to keep him as a pitcher only. Hunter Shuff (USC Aiken), another Right Handed Pitcher, would also get in the fun with a single through the right side. Finally, Joe Bellini would drive in Parr for his 6th RBI of the night to bring the score to 20-1. That would be the final score in Woodstock.

Gens Bust Out 20 Hits In Win Over New Market
In a truly impressive display, the Generals brought in 18 runs to take down New Market. The Gens scored in every inning but the 2nd and the 9th and were able to knock in a season-high 8 runs in an inning.
In the very first inning, Chase Cheek (Duke) hit a one-out triple to get things started. However, he was thrown out at the plate on a fielder’s choice in the next at-bat for the second out. The Gens looked as if they may not score after a triple, but Alex Webb (Chipola) had other ideas. He sent a double deep into the left centerfield gap to bring the runner around from 1st.
The Rebels would quickly answer. In the bottom of the first, the Rebels started the game with 3 straight singles to bring home a run. Nick Parr (Oakland), the starter for the Generals, did a nice job at working out of the inning when he got a New Market hitter to roll into a double play. The score after 1 inning was tied 1-1.
Neither team scored in the second inning, but both did in the third. Chase Cheek started things again for the Generals. He would drop a bunt single with one out in the inning. Andrew Orzel (Wofford) followed him up with another single, but when the throw came into the cutoff man, they would try and throw Orzel out at second. Fortunately, the cutoff man’s throw was airmailed, allowing Cheek to score.
In the bottom of the third, the Rebels would take their first lead in the game by putting up 2 runs. After a leadoff single, the Rebel’s leading hitter Andrew Eyster drilled a homer to straight away left field to put the Rebs in front 3-2.
The Generals would eventually score 3 in the top of the 4th to take the lead for good. When Jackson Webb (UCF) was hit by a pitch, he got aggressive on the base paths to make New Market pay. He stole 2nd and then 3rd in the same at bat. Bruno Teramoto (New Mexico St.) would single after a long battle to bring in the tying run. 2 batters later, Gabe Montenegro (Southern Miss) singled to right to allow Teramoto to get to third. Chase Cheek came up big once again during a night to remember for the Duke representative, with a double into right center field that brought in both Teramoto and Montenegro. The lead for the Gens was now 5-3.
New Market wouldn’t go away quite yet with a run in the bottom of the 4th to inch a bit closer. After a one out single, things started happening quickly. An error was made at third base on a potential double play ball. That was followed with another hit from Andrew Eyster to drive in yet another run. Parr would eventually work himself out of that jam too. The score at this point in time was 5-4 in favor of Waynesboro.
The Gens scored again in the 5th inning. After 2 quick outs, Tyler Bielamowicz (Houston) would hit an infield single, but would be moved to second base after an errant attempt by the shortstop. Jackson Webb would come up with a double down the left field line to score Bielo and make it 6-4 Generals.
Nick Parr would start to settle in and would throw a clean 5th and 6th frames while his offense just kept scoring. Bruno Teramoto would work his way to first base on what was scored an error out right. Generals fans thought it should have been scored an infield single with a throwing error to move him to second base. Joe Bellini (Cincinnati) would double directly after that to bring in Bruno. Gabe Montenegro would sacrifice Bellini to third for the red hot Chase Cheek. He wouldn’t disappoint. Another at bat for Cheek, another RBI double for Cheek. Andrew Orzel would make his way to first after an error by the third baseman to put runners on the corners. The Gens would score yet again in the inning when Orzel stole second and the catcher’s throw skipped into center. The score was now 9-4.
After the clean bottom of the 6th, the Generals would score yet again in the 7th. Tyler Bielamowicz would start things out in the inning with a walk. He would steal second base in the next at bat. After a strikeout, Bielo would steal third base as well. From there, Bruno Teramoto would drive him in with a single to give the Gens double digit runs.
The 8th inning is officially when the game got out of hand. The Gens already had a 6 run lead when they tacked on 8 in the top of the 8th. The first 8 batters of the inning all reached base safely before the Rebels finally recorded an out. But it didn’t stop after an out was recorded. Newly entered into the game Dylan Cloonan (Miami) got in on the fun by singling to right field for another RBI. By this time, it was very station to station on the basepaths for the Gens. Andrew Orzel hit an RBI single in the same spot as Cloonan. Alex Webb worked a bases loaded walk for an RBI. Finally, the last two batters of the inning were put away via the punchout. The score after the inning was now 18-4.
New Market would show some late fight and put up 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th to bring the score to what would ultimately be the final score of 18-7.

Comeback Victory Over Harrisonburg Snaps 3-Game Skid
The Waynesboro Generals found themselves in familiar territory Tuesday night at Kate Collins Field. Through 3 and ½ innings, the Gens had the same amount of hits, but were trailing on the scoreboard 3-0. But this time things proved to be a good kind of different as the game went on.
Harrisonburg had scored two in the top of the second after Nick Parr (Oakland) had recorded the first two outs of the inning. The Turks came up with a single to right, a walk, an RBI single, and then the sacrifice the runner on first play came into effect. There were runners on first and third. The runner from first steals second. When the throw from the catcher goes to second base, the runner from first stops in his tracks. This allows time for the runner on third to attempt a steal of home. In this case, it worked successfully for Harrisonburg. After the steal of home, the score was 2-0 in favor of Harrisonburg.
The Turks would score their 3rd unanswered run in the top of the 4th after once again recording the first two outs of the inning. A 2-out hit-by-pitch, a walk, and an RBI single was enough for the Turks to make the score 3-0.
The Gens had been hitting just as much as the Turks, but hadn’t gotten the key hit…. Until the bottom of the 4th. Dalton Wingo (UCF) started things off with a double to right center. Alex Brait (FGCU) drilled a triple into the right center gap right after. Two pitches later and Tyler Trovinger (Oakland) hit an RBI groundout to bring in Brait and tighten the score to 3-2.
In the middle innings, things got a little quiet with 4 half innings in a row of no scoring. In the top of the 7th, the Turks were able to lengthen their lead to 4-2 on the strength of back-to-back singles by Austin Embler and Zach Little, followed by another single by Elian Merejo.
However in the bottom of the 7th, the Gens were able to put together one of their most impressive innings all year. It started with a 1-out single by Jackson Webb (UCF) followed by another single by Tyler Bielamowicz (Houston). During the next at-bat, the Gens performed a double steal with Webb and Bielo. Kyle Wrighte (William & Mary) hit the ball to the shortstop to bring in Webb and move Bielo to third with the score now sitting at 4-3. The Gens would turn to Gabe Montenegro (Southern Miss) for the big two-out hit that they had been searching for what felt like all year. On a 1-0 count, Montenegro scorched a single into centerfield to tie the score at 4. The Gens weren’t quite finished yet. Andrew Orzel (Wofford) talked about his prior at-bat in an interview after the game. He said the pitcher threw him a fastball in a good spot to hit, but he was late. He vowed that if he threw him another pitch like that, he would make him pay for it. He did just that on the first pitch of the at-bat. Orzel unloaded on an absolute no-doubter to deep left field to take the lead in the bottom of the 7th 6-4.
A leadoff walk in the top of the 8th would come around to score on 3 wild pitches and would make things a little more interesting. Starting the top of the 9th, the score was 6-5 and Pat O’Shea (St Mary’s) was on for the save. After getting the first 2 Turks out, he allowed a two out single and a walk to put the tying run on second and the go-ahead run on first. Fortunately for the Gens, he got a ground ball to second base to pick up his first save of the year. The win helped Waynesboro snap a 3 game skid.

Generals Take Down Turks In Rain-Shortened Game
Friday night in Harrisonburg, the Generals scored at least one run in 6 out of 8 innings. The game got a later start than normal due to rainy conditions. When the rain set in for good in the bottom of the 8th inning, the game was called in favor of the Generals.
The Generals scored in the first frame on an RBI triple by Tyler Bielamowicz (Houston) to start the scoring off at 1-0. In the bottom half however, the Turks put up a three spot on the strength of an RBI double by Zach Little, a wild pitch to bring in another, and then an RBI single by Elian Marejo to get the lead to 3-1 for Harrisonburg.
The score was tied up quickly in the second inning. After a Bruno Teramoto (New Mexico St) stolen base to put runners on second and third, Gabe Montenegro (Southern Miss) delivered a 2-out RBI single to tie the game at 3.
The third inning kept the consecutive innings scored streak alive. Chase Cheek (Duke) led off with a single and then stole second. He was brought in to score on a single by Dalton Wingo (UCF) to take the lead. The Turks then induced a double play to clear the bases with two outs. What seemed to be a harmless single from Andrew Orzel (Wofford) then turned into chaos. With a host of wild pitches and passed balls, Orzel went station-to-station all the way home for another tally to make the score 5-3.
The 4th inning continued to show the relentlessness of the Generals with a leadoff walk to Kyle Wrighte (William & Mary). Two batters later, Wrighte stole second and third base. Wrighte then came around to score on a passed ball by the Turks catcher. The score after 4 innings was 6-3.
The Turks would mount a comeback in the bottom of the 5th inning. They had finally kept Waynesboro off the scoreboard in the top half of the inning and were looking to build off that momentum. The second batter of the inning was hit by a pitch. That was followed by a single to put runners on first and second with only one out. Zach Little, the Turk that delivered on an RBI double in the first inning, came through again with an RBI single this time. He advanced to second on the throw to the plate. Two consecutive passed balls allowed the Turks to score again in the inning to tighten the score up at 6-5 with the Generals still leading.
The 6th inning is where the Gens would start to distance themselves. Kyle Wrighte would work himself on with a hit-by-pitch and a steal of second base yet again. Tyler Bielamowicz continued to have a good day at the plate by singling and putting runners on second and third after Wrighte drew a throw to the plate that Bielo moved up on. Chase Cheek delivered one of his 4 hits on the night to bring in Wrighte and Bielo. Dalton Wingo followed that up with another single to continue to threaten the Turks with only one away in the inning. After a pitching change, Wingo and Cheek executed a double steal to get into scoring position. With the infield in at this point, the Turks got a ground out that Cheek had to hold for. Andrew Orzel got himself on base again with a HBP to load the bases. Jackson Webb (UCF) worked a bases loaded walk for an RBI and Bruno Teramoto was hit by another pitch to officially bat around in the inning. The Generals struck for 4 runs, all told, to get their lead to 10-5.
They weren’t quite finished scoring yet, however, as they scored 2 more in the 7th. Alex Webb (Chipola) diminished the hopes of the Turks this time with a 2 RBI single. The score after 7 ended up being the final at 12-5. The General bats finally exploded for 14 hits and 12 runs in the ball game.

Waynesboro Tops Staunton On the Road
There wasn’t much hitting going on Wednesday night at John Moxie Stadium at Gypsy Hill Park. However, the hitting that did happen was in timely situations. The teams combined for 7 hits all night.
The Generals struck quickly with a 2-out homerun from Chase Cheek (Duke) to move the score to 1-0 early on.
The story of the ball game came from Waynesboro starting pitcher Nathan Schneider (St Mary’s). He threw 5 innings of no-hit baseball while striking out 3. The one runner that reached base on him was via the walk in the third inning. Schneider has now put together some impressive outings. In his last 9.2 IP, he’s only allowed 1 hit.
The 5th and 6th innings are where the Generals did most of their damage. In the 5th, one-out back-to-back walks to Alex Brait (Florida Gulf Coast) and Tyler Bielamowicz (Houston) started the inning. Two batters later, a walk for Gabe Montenegro (Southern Miss) loaded the bases. Jackson Webb (UCF) came through with a 2 RBI single. Gabe Montenegro also scored in the inning on a wild pitch. The score moved to 4-0 through 4 ½ innings. As mentioned, Schneider continued his dominance in the bottom of the 5th to set his team up for another good inning in the top of the 6th.
A walk to Dalton Wingo (UCF) with one away in the inning was the only baserunner on for Alex Brait, who unloaded on a full count pitch for his first homer of the year to move the score to 6-0. The Generals seemed to be in complete control.
The Braves managed to manufacture a run in the bottom of the 8th with a lead-off walk moving to second on a wild pitch, advancing to third on a long fly ball to center field, and scoring on a single. Through 8 innings, the score was 6-1 and the Generals had held the opposition to only 2 hits.
The Braves also tacked a run on in the 9th to make the final 6-2, but never really threatened the lead of Waynesboro.

The Generals were rained out on Thursday night at home vs. the Strasburg Express, but will be back in action Friday night on the road in Harrisonburg. The Generals will be looking to avenge the loss they took at the hands of the Turks a week ago.
Generals Late Comeback Attempt Falls Short Against TomSox
The south division leading Charlottesville TomSox came into Kate Collins field riding an 8-2 record in their last 10 games. They didn’t waste much time getting on the board.
Both the Generals and TomSox played some sloppy defense Monday, combining for 7 errors throughout the night. The TomSox took advantage of the errors made by the Gens. All 5 of their runs were unearned. Nick Parr (Oakland) was the starter in the ball game for Waynesboro and pitched well. He did a nice job pitching out of a few jams and the runs came from multiple error innings.
In the top of the second, the first hitter reached on an error by the shortstop that moved the hitter to second on the throw. After a softly hit infield single, the runner scored on a fielder’s choice. Parr got out of the inning by getting a double play on the next hitter.
The Gens would answer in the bottom of the 4th after Chase Cheek (Duke) started the inning with a bunt single and moved to second on a throwing error. Two batters later, Alex Webb (Chipola) would bring Cheek home with a single to tie the score at 1.
The seventh inning is where things came unglued. Nick Parr was still working along nicely. He had given up one unearned run on 5 hits and had struck out 2 through 6 full innings of work. The 7th began with another error. The next two hitters singled on a bloop to right and a “ground ball with eyes” through to center to bring home the first run. After a strikeout, Parr would give up a single to right field but would record an out after the runner from first took too big of a round at second base. That would be the end of Parr’s night. He was responsible for runners on first and third base, but with 2 outs and an error in the inning, the runs that would eventually score weren’t earned. After Parr left, another error and a bases clearing double would move the score to 5-1 in favor of the TomSox.
The Generals did make a comeback attempt in the 9th. With a leadoff walk and an error by the first baseman, Chase Cheek hit a one-out double down the left field line to score one, put runners on second and third, and brought the tying run to the plate. Andrew Orzel (Wofford) followed up Cheek by hitting a ball that seemed destined for the gap, but a nice running catch by the TomSox left fielder made it a sacrifice fly. The score is now 5-3 with a runner on second and the tying run at the plate. Alex Webb was at the plate and got down in the count 0-2 right off the bat, and wasn’t able to recover. He struck out swinging to end the ball game.
